Abstract: Fast-slow systems emerge naturally in many physical situations. While there exists a well-developed theory to investigate the statistical properties of strongly chaotic (uniformly hyperbolic) systems, little is known about fast-slow systems due to the presence of ``neutral directions” in which the dynamics does not mix very effectively. I will describe some progress and obstacles of this research program.
